Sweet cold coke is a sugar bomb

Coca-Cola is the most popular soft drink in history, as well as the best-known brand in the world.


A can of coke consist of carbonated water, high fructose corn syrup, caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural flavours, caffeine, sugar and sodium.  A 12 oz coke which is a regular can of coke consist of 39 gram of sugar. To do the visual math, one sugar cube is equivalent to one teaspoon of sugar and weighs approximately 4 grams, so that means one can of coke contains almost 10 cubes of sugar.

Added sugar, which is high fructose corn syrup or also often named as the hidden calorie is one of the ingredients to pay particular attention to when reading any food label. High fructose syrup is a sweetener made from corn and is commonly added to foods and drinks for palatability and taste enhancements or for example to enhance browning of baked foods.

Need to know abour sugar

All concentrated sugars are fast releasing and causing a rapid increase in the blood sugar levels. As the liver is the only organ that can metabolize fructose in significant amounts, it will with excessive consumption, turn the excess into fat, hence excessive fructose consumption may contribute to the development of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, obesity and type 2 diabetes.

Thirty minutes after consuming sugar the immune system is measurable suppressed losing as much as 50 % of its capacity. So if you constantly throughout the day consume sugar laden foods or drinks your immune system is drastically decreased and you have a greater change of developing life long illnesses.
